Peoples Church, 1758 10th St. N, Kalamazoo MI 49009, Room 19

(Socializing begins at 6:30)

I invite you to take a walk with me through the largest collection of freshwater dunes in the world to discover rare interdunal wetlands and the diversity of insects, frogs, snakes, birds, and plants that call it home. The coastal dune is more than a landscape; it is an experience. In this talk I’ll explore connections between dune environmental characteristics and spatial fragmentation determining what type, and where aquatic biodiversity is, and why maintaining that diversity is essential in planning for coastal sustainability and conservation.

Dr. Tiffany Schriever is a freshwater ecologist interested in how environmental variation influences ecological dynamics across temporal and spatial scales from individuals to the ecosystems. In her lab, they investigate community and ecosystem ecology in freshwater habitats, with an emphasis on herpetofauna and aquatic invertebrates. They use experimental and comparative approaches in field settings, mostly in wetlands and streams.

All indoor programs are at the People’s Church, 1758 N 10th St, Kalamazoo, 49009. Socializing begins at 6:30 pm and the programs begin at 7:00 pm. Non-members are always welcome to join us for programs and field trips. Masks are recommended but not required in the church.
