The design elements are locked down. This is determined by a sitewide template. Fonts, font colors etc are predetermined.
Keep an eye on the way the site looks on a phone and a computer. This
Main site navigation
Pages: Linked and not linked, creating new, editing existing
· Assets: Uploading, deleting (don’t delete anything you haven’t uploaded!)
Please don’t change: Design, contacts, products etc.
Pages: Editing pages
Pre-existing or new.:
We generally use the blank template and built the page using “blocks”.
We don’t use “products” or albums.
Squarespace started as a blogging platform, but blogging is it’s own format. The idea is that it is interactive.
Editing Pages: ALWAYS save unless you want to revert to the last saved.
Blocks to use:
Text: Formats, links, lists
Pictures: Uploading, formats, captions
Buttons
Calendar
Maps: locations, colors
Forms
Blocks we don’t use:
Video, audio, newsletters, scrolling, business, integrations, accordian
Putting a pdf on the site: Creating a thumbnail, (use your screenshot tool!) uploading a pdf to assets, linking to the pdf.
Arranging elements on the page: Works better with a good mouse! Takes practice and observation for visual cues.
Linking from your page: Jump to a browser window outside of Squarespace. If the URL is too long, use a site like https://tinyurl.com/ for a short URL.
Using the app on your phone: handy for uploading pictures to your page, but it is very small!
