Hampton Creek lies in the NW corner of the Gourdneck SGA. Located at the SE corner of Centre Ave. and Angling Rd. This was a favored collecting area of the Hanes. It is also an eBird spot.

Hampton Creek flows into Hampton Lake. Currently the area is in the process of restoration. Nine endangered plants are found within this area. The history of management plans will be covered for both Gourdneck and specifically the Hampton Creek section.

Don Poppe is a Wildlife Biologist with the Michigan DNR. He manages Wildlife populations and State Games Areas in Allegan, Kalamazoo and Van Buren Counties. Don has an MS in Conservation Biology from Central Michigan University and a BS in fisheries and Wildlife Management from Lake Superior University. He’s been in his current position since 2017 and with the DNR Wildlife Division since 2014. Prior to that he worked for the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
