There are new invasive species on the horizon here in southwest Michigan; some are closer than you think! Join Zach Whitacre of the BCK CISMA to get up to speed on the latest and emerging invasive species threats. Zach will cover how to identify these new invaders, what to do if you see one, and how to prevent their spread.
Zach Whitacre is the Coordinator for the Barry-Calhoun-Kalamazoo Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (BCK CISMA). Before coming to the BCK CISMA, he worked as a Conservation Technician at the Kalamazoo Nature Center. Zach specializes in managing regional high-priority invasive species such as Japanese knotweed, invasive phragmites, and red swamp crayfish. He also provides education and outreach opportunities to the public about invasive species and their best management practices.
